Over 50 expectant mothers in Ogunu and Ugbuwangue health centers on Wednesday received free Delivery kits courtesy of Rotary club of Ogunu in warri South local Government Area of Delta state.
The expectant mothers who were gathered at the Ogunu and Ugbuwangue health centers for their regular antenatal check up got Delivery kits from the members of the Rotary club of Ogunu .
President of Rotary club of Ogunu, Rotarian Austin Edon disclosed that the gesture was part of activities marking Rotary International’s Maternal and Child Health Project Month.

Rotarian Edon said the initiative was aimed at supporting expectant mothers and promoting safe delivery through the provision of essential maternity kits.

He noted that July is set aside every year by Rotary International for Maternal and Child Health, during which clubs distribute delivery kits to pregnant women to assist the indigent ones especially.

Rotarian Edon said Rotary remains committed to giving back to society through its motto of “Service Above Self,” and thanked members of the Rotary Club of Ogunu for their financial support towards the project.

Also speaking the Project chairman, Rotarian Anthony Eleh and Rotarian Onome Ogoro urged the beneficiaries to always visit health centres close to them for proper antenatal check-up and take their routine drugs.
They urged the expectant mothers to make good use of the items for the purpose it was meant for .

The matrons of Ogunu health center and Ugbuwangue health center Mrs Gladys Otomewo and Mrs Omawumi Esoko as well as some of the expectant mothers thanked Rotary club of Ogunu for the donation of the delivery kits as it will go a long way to assist them during delivery.

They prayed God to bless members of the club for putting smiles on their faces .
The highpoint of the event was the distribution of delivery kits to the pregnant women.
