Urhobos of Warri Political Class, UWPC has called on Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC ) to implement the Supreme Court judgement on redelineation of units and wards in the Warri Federal Constituency in suit nos SC/413/3/2016 delivered on December 2nd 2022.
UWPC made the call in a press statement issued by Reverend Canon David Otofia and Chief Vincent Okudolor ( Leader and deputy dealer respectively ) at a press conference at Ogwan R’Olodi( Olodi Hall ) Otor – rere headquarters of Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area last weekend.
The statement hailed Hon George Timinimi and other appellants in the landmark judgement.
It noted that the apex court judgement superceded the Warri Federal High Court judgement that declared the twelve ward structure in Warri South Local Government Area illegal.
” Nigerians are agitating for more units and wards .
” We then wonder why some persons are agitating for a reduction of wards in Warri South Local Government Area” the statement added.
UWPC therefore noted that the Supreme Court judgement was timely and that it was a welcome development .
” It will correct a lot of injustice in the Warri Federal Constituency” the statement added.
The statement then called on INEC to implement the Supreme Court judgement on redelineation of wards in the Warri Federal Constituency before the forthcoming elections.
