The Rotary Club of Okuokoko, District 9141 has distributed 50 free Delivery kits to pregnant women at Okuokoko health center, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta state as part of activities marking Rotary International’s Maternal and Child Health care Project.
President of Rotary club of Okuokoko, Rotarian Sunday Adeniji said the initiative was aimed at supporting pregnant mothers and promoting safe delivery through the provision of essential delivery kits.![]()

He noted that the gesture is one of Rotary’s international seven areas of focus which is maternal and child health care .
The president of the club revealed that Rotary clubs generally embark on the project to assist more of indigent expectant mothers by donating delivery kits to them .
Rotarian Adeniji thanked members of the Club for their financial support towards the project.
He urged the beneficiaries to always take their routine drugs .
Others who spoke including the club secretary Rotarian Ese Okwofaraye,the Project chairman, Rotarian Darlington Odogwu, Club Adviser Rotarian Kingsley Azubuike advised the pregnant women to always visit the health centres close to them for proper antenatal check-up.

Other Rotarians including Blessing Odogboro ,Daniel Ajomata and Felicia Edhigwe urged the expectant mothers to make good use of the items for the purpose it was meant for and wished them safe delivery.
One of the Assistant District Governors, Rotarian Sunny Oveisi commended the club for the donation,stating that this year’s theme, “Create a Lasting Impact in Society,” was timely, adding that lives were touched through the presentation of the kits.
He added that Rotary is about adding value to society and highlighted some of Rotary’s projects across District 9141 that has impacted the lives of individuals in the communities.
The Matron of Okuokoko health center Mrs Doris Ogoro lectured the expectant mothers on breast feeding and healthy living.
She charged the pregnant women to always be neat, eat healthy and relax ,saying this will also make their babies in the womb to grow strong and healthy.
Some of the expectant mothers thanked members of Rotary club of Okuokoko for the donation as it will help them to save money for other items needed during their delivery.
The highpoint of the event was the distribution of 50 delivery kits to the pregnant women.
