UVWIE – The All Progressives Congress conducted its senatorial primaries across the 10 wards in Uvwie LGA, Delta Central Senatorial District, on Monday amid heavy security presence.
Voting began early at Alegbo Primary School in Ward 1, where hundreds of APC members turned out for accreditation from 8 a.m.
Among those accredited were Delta State Internal Revenue Service Chairman Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, Uvwie Constituency House of Assembly member Hon. Edafe Emakpor, Hon. Evelyn Oboro, and former DBS board member Chief Peter Abugewa. Voters queued and were counted by the returning officer in the presence of INEC officials. Ward 1 Chairman Comrade Peter Egere described the process as peaceful.
In Ward 2 at Ogbe Primary School, Effurun, 550 members were accredited with Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Chief Festus Keyamo serving as returning officer. Ward 3 at Urhobo College, Effurun, recorded 700 accredited voters under returning officer Mr. Angles Othuke. Ward 5 at Ugborikoko saw 525 voters accredited before casting their ballots. Hon. Ramson Onoyake and Chief Rose Oghene, both party leaders in the ward, said the exercise went smoothly.

Ward 7 Ugbomro also recorded orderly conduct.
Uvwie Council Chairman Chief Anthony Ofoni and LGA Chairman Mr. Sylvester Oghenevwede voted in Ward 7 and commended members for turning out in large numbers.
Returning officer Mr. Agbaja said the Ugbomro exercise was free and fair.
Ward 9 at Nigercat, Ekpan, and Ward 10 at Ekpan Okugbe Primary School recorded large turnouts, with returning officers collating results after voting.
Chief Omimi Omatsmegbe and Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje, Chairman of the Delta State Bureau for Pensions, said voting was peaceful.
In Ward 6, Ugobroke, Chief Edward Ofudje commended members for their peaceful conduct.
Ward 8 followed the same pattern, with voters on queue awaiting accreditation. NURTW Delta State Chairman Chief Francis Ariyoh, who led APC members to vote, said the process was credible and peaceful.
In all 10 wards visited in Uvwie local government area Senator Ede Dafinone won senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
