Former House of Representatives Minority Leader, Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, has won the All Progressives Congress primary for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Ubulu Uku Ward 5, defeating incumbent Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie.
Returning Officer Prince Sunday Esedebe declared Elumelu winner on Saturday after he polled 835 votes. Okolie secured six votes.
The primary was conducted using the Option A4 voting system.
Aniocha South LGA Chairman, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, who voted at Abuedo Primary School, commended the APC for what he called a credible, transparent, and inclusive exercise.
He said the system had deepened grassroots participation and urged the party to sustain and improve it to strengthen internal democracy.

Chukwunwike also urged eligible citizens to participate in the forthcoming INEC voter registration exercise, noting that the Permanent Voter’s Card remained a key tool for shaping governance.
INEC observer Mr. Sikaidi Peter praised the conduct of the primary, saying the APC electoral committee largely adhered to electoral law. He described the process as a demonstration of participatory democracy and a sign of evolving electoral standards.
Esedebe commended the turnout and said the exercise reflected the wishes of grassroots party members.
Political observers said the result could reshape calculations in the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections, given Elumelu’s political structure and influence in the area.
