Former chairman of Uvwie local government council, Hon. Ramson Tega Onoyake has secured a decisive victory in the All Progressives Congress primary for the Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie (OSU) Federal Constituency held on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The exercise, conducted across all 10 wards of Uvwie LGA, recorded a large turnout of party members and was described as peaceful by party officials and observers.
Uvwie LGA Chairman, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, who voted at Ward 7, commended the orderly conduct of voters and the organization of the primary.
He said the turnout reflected growing internal democracy within the APC and the importance attached to selecting a strong candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Ofoni praised security agencies, party monitors, and community leaders for maintaining decorum throughout the exercise, noting that the peaceful process demonstrated Uvwie’s commitment to non-violent politics.
APC Uvwie LGA Chairman, Comrade Sylvester Oghenevwede, said the outcome gave the party strong momentum to contest the OSU seat in 2027.
With the conclusion of sorting and counting, Onoyake emerged as the party’s candidate for the OSU Federal Constituency. Supporters celebrated across Effurun and surrounding communities, describing the result as the start of a new era of representation for the constituency.
Hon. Victor Okoloba of the Effurun Community Development Committee said monitors recorded no incidents of violence or disruption.
Former House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. Evelyn Oboro called the process transparent and urged party members to unite behind Onoyake ahead of the general elections.
