Former Delta House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana, has won the All Progressives Congress primary for the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ganagana polled 14,000 votes to defeat incumbent Hon. Nicholas Mutu, who garnered 1,093 votes. Returning Officer for the primary and Delta Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilije, announced the result on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Bomadi Town Hall.

Priye Okaba came third with 609 votes, while Dr. Chris Ekiyor placed fourth with 237 votes.
With the victory, Ganagana emerged as the APC standard bearer for Bomadi/Patani in the 2027 elections.
The result ends Mutu’s 27-year tenure in the House of Representatives, where he has represented the constituency since 1999.
The collation was witnessed by Bomadi and Patani LGA returning officers, INEC representatives, party stakeholders, agents of the aspirants, and members of the constituency.
