The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, has called on eligible voters to deploy the power of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as instruments for demanding accountability, responsive governance and sustainable development from political leaders.
Chukwunwike made the call while addressing party faithful and community stakeholders at Abuedo Primary School, Ubulu-Uku, venue of the APC presidential primary election in Ward 5, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a speech that resonated strongly with democratic ideals and grassroots political consciousness, the council chairman urged the electorate to move beyond transactional politics and embrace issue-based participation capable of producing visionary and people-oriented leadership.
According to him, the era of exchanging the collective future of the people for temporary gains must give way to a new political culture anchored on accountability, competence and developmental governance.

He stressed that good governance can only thrive when citizens consciously elect leaders with compassion, integrity, administrative capacity and genuine commitment towards improving the living conditions of the people.
“PVCs should not merely serve as voting instruments but as democratic tools for holding leaders accountable to the aspirations and developmental needs of the people,” Chukwunwike stated.
The chairman further appealed to party supporters and the wider electorate to sustain their confidence in progressive leadership and continue supporting credible candidates capable of deepening infrastructural growth, economic inclusion and social development across Aniocha South and beyond.
He also expressed appreciation to the people of Ubulu-Uku and Aniocha South for what he described as their unwavering support, trust and cooperation with his administration, assuring them of his continued commitment to grassroots development and people-centred governance.
Political observers at the event noted that the chairman’s remarks reflected an increasing shift within local political discourse towards citizen-driven governance, electoral responsibility and democratic consolidation at the grassroots level.
At the conclusion of the exercise, the APC Returning Officer for Ward 5, Comrade Kelvin Nwabu Etieh, declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the presidential primary after polling a total of 1,515 votes, while his challenger, Mr. Stanley Usifo, recorded zero votes.
The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Engr. Moses Nwaomezi, alongside other accredited observers who adjudged the process as peaceful, transparent, credible and in substantial compliance with democratic procedures.
The orderly conduct of the primary further underscored the growing political maturity within the party structure in Aniocha South, as stakeholders reiterated the need for internal democracy, party cohesion and issue-based leadership ahead of future electoral engagements.
